Maze Escape Megaways takes us back to Ancient Greece and the maze that Daedelus built to trap the fearsome Minotaur, the flesh-eating half bull, half man. With a casino game that’s based on Greek Mythology, it’s no surprise that the premium symbols are objects and characters from these myths. But one of the things Foxy likes about this game is that the lower-paying symbols aren't card ranks. 

They also follow the theme of the game and are letters from the Greek alphabet. You can see the value of each symbol in the paytable by clicking the menu icon at the bottom right of the screen. 

The grid features 6 reels and 7 rows. Some of the positions are blocked on each spin to give the changing number of paylines the Megaways slot mechanic is famous for. These can be unblocked in the bonus rounds to unleash the full win potential of the game.

This is a game that's packed full of different features, and I have to admit, trying to find me way around them left me scratchin' me furry little noggin for a while. I'll explain them as best I can in a minute,  but first, the basics. 

The bet range for the game is from 0.20 to 40.00, and wins are formed by landing three or more matching symbols on the reels. The bet level can be set by clicking the stack of coins on the bottom right of the grid.

Prick up your ears and pay attention, me furry ones, 'cause this is all a bit complicated. Before each spin, a random symbol is highlighted in gold. If this is involved in forming a win the Shifting Maze feature is triggered. The triggering symbol sticks, and the reels respin. 

Any symbol that matches the golden one also turns golden, and they all form a cluster, Respins continue while wins are formed, and new symbols are added to the cluster. Two blocked positions are opened, and if they hold a special symbol, one of these extra bonus rounds is triggered;

The Free Spins is triggered by landing three Scatters. Here, any win will start the Shifting Maze feature, and players also have the chance of winning additional Free Spins and increasing multipliers.

Normally, Foxy isn't a fan of games that leave him scratchin' his head trying to figure out how the bonus rounds worked. But Maze Escape is an exception. It all appears a bit complicated at first, but once you start spinning the reels and taking in the action, everything falls into place, and the path through the labyrinth reveals itself.
