Fans of Candy Crush are going to love Play'n GoOs new release, the Gemix slot. This fantasy-themed game sees players landing clusters of matching gems to win payouts and move through magical worlds.

It takes five or more matching symbols connecting horizontally or vertically on the 7x7 sized grid form wins. The background changes between fantasy worlds as the player lands wins to clear patterns from the grid, taking them to the next magical location. And each world comes with its own random bonuses!

There are eight pay symbols that can land, four low and four high. These are all different coloured gems, and the high-pays are easily spotted because they have different shapes, flowers, moons, hearts, and stars.

It’s not often you see Wilds in a Cluster Pays game, so Gemix is even more unusual because it has not one, but three, a Miner’s Lamp, Lollipop, and Book of Spells. Granted, these don’t land on the reels during regular spins, and they are not all active at the same time. But you can read all about that below. 

Whenever a winning cluster is formed, all the symbols involved explode, and new and remaining symbols cascade down to fill the empty spaces. The reaction continues as long as new winning clusters are formed. This can lead to multiple wins from one spin, and more!

When symbols in a winning cluster are removed from the reels during these cascades, they’re added to the Crystal Charge metre. If this fills up, one of the following reel modifiers will trigger at the end of the cascade. 

Chain Lightning – A bolt of electricity arcs between two opposite corner symbols, destroying all symbols in its way and replacing them with new ones. 

Light Beam –  Beams of light shoot out vertically and horizontally from a random symbol on the grid, transforming all symbols in their path.

Crystal Warp – All instances of one randomly chosen symbol on the grid warp into other symbols.

Nova Blast – one symbol on the grid explodes and takes all the adjacent symbols with it to replace them with a core of matching symbols. 

A Super Charge feature is awarded if the metre reaches forty symbols. This adds a x3 win multiplier to one of the Crystal Charge features above.

To the right of the reels is a map of the grid with patterns highlighted on it. As players land wins on top of the highlighted positions, they are cleared, and when one pattern is completely gone, the player moves to that world. Each of these has its own random Wild bonus that can kick in after a non-winning spin. 

Miner’s World – up to ten Miner’s Lamp Wild symbols can be added to the grid.

Princess' World – An expanding Lollipop Wild can cover the grid. Wilds appear from one edge of the grid to the other.

Wizard’s World – The Wizard’s spell book is added as a Sticky Wild. Up to 8 of these can appear and will remain on the grid as long as the player is in the Wizard’s world. 

With a range of bonus features, and the ever-changing worlds and their Wilds, you hardly even notice that Gemix doesn't have a Free Spins round. With all the action on the reels, the game is fast and fun and has plenty of win potential. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t set a loss limit before playing.
